CTL Education Chromebooks with Securly Promote Internet Safety For Kids with Web Filtering and Detailed Reports on Student Usage
We’re excited to announce that we’ve partnered with Securly, the world’s leading cloud-based provider of Internet Security for K-12 schools to provide internet safety for kids. Schools that purchase the CTL Education Chromebook or CTL J2 Chromebook for Education can get peace of mind with the included Securly in-school and take-home cloud based filtering. Chromebooks from CTL with Securly will help IT Administrators manage their school’s internet safety policy and achieve CIPA compliance (Child Internet Protection Act), an e-rate requirement, by providing real-time view of student activity as well as the ability to see a report of websites students have either visited or been blocked from accessing. By implementing Securly in their 1:1 programs, K-12 school IT departments and educators will be better able to shape and secure the students online screen time in accordance with the web filtering requirements of the Child Internet Protection Act (CIPA) and e-rate.
Securly is used on over 100,000 Chromebooks in over 500 schools in the US to provide internet safety for kids. The company has recently released “Securly for Parents”, the first product to give parents a bird’s eye view of their child’s life online, both in school and at home. Both Securely and Securly for Parents will be available on the CTL’s Chromebooks, which will keep parents informed and engaged in the learning process. AND, if you have already purchased a CTL Education Chromebook or the CTL J2 Chromebook for Education, great news! Your free year of Securly is retroactive. Contact CTL today to find out how to start your free year of Securly internet safety for kids.
The CTL Education Chromebook is a ruggedized device designed for education with unique features that promote learning. The rotatable camera supports scientific inquiry and comes with an optional snap-on lens that provides 30X magnification. The retractable handle makes the device easy to carry and less likely to be dropped and it’s easy to hang in a cubby or locker. An anti-glare screen helps to reduce eyestrain by minimizing reflection under florescent lights and near classroom windows. The Intel Education Lab Camera Chrome app by Intellisense will be included for free on the CTL Educational Chromebook through Google Apps for Education.
The CTL J2 Chromebook for Education has a powerful Quad Core ARM Cortex-A17 processor with up to 1.8GHz (RK3288). This is a high performance dedicated 2D processor that supports up to 3840 x 2160 display output and boasts HDMI 2.0. Its rugged design enables this Chromebook to withstand the rigors of student use, and weighing only 2.4 lbs., it’s about 20% lighter than other popular Chromebooks.
Securly integrates with Google Apps for Education and the Google Chrome Management Console and allows teachers to obtain historical information about how students have been spending their time in class. Using the easy-to-read dashboard, teachers can quickly determine if a student has been browsing school-approved web content. In the event that a student is off task, the teacher now has the ability to intervene and take appropriate action. Securly’s web monitoring features save teachers time, allowing them to focus their attention on providing the best possible learning experience for their students. In addition, Securly allows teachers to continue monitoring web use when students leave the classroom. View the video below for more information on how the Securly Analytics Dashboard provides internet safety for kids, helping teachers to track student online activity.
Parents can also gain peace of mind when their children use the CTL Education Chromebook with Securly. Securly for Parents weekly reports make it easy for parents to track their children’s online time, including search history, social networks and the people they are interacting with. Parents can protect their children from inappropriate content, online predators, identity theft, and cyber-bullying by using Securly’s granular reporting capabilities and real-time alerts.
