The new rugged CTL Education ChromebookWe’re excited about the launch of our new CTL® Education Chromebook, which was just announced at the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) conference in Atlanta, GA on June 29th. This Chromebook was designed for education with unique features that promote learning. The CTL® Education Chromebook is hassle-free right out of the box so teachers and students can get up and running quickly. But it’s not just for education! Everyone will love this device that’s rugged, durable, quick to deploy, easy to manage, maintain and keep secure.

Rugged – built tough for anytime, anywhere learning.

Drop Resistant – The CTL® Education Chromebook is built to withstand bumps and accidental drops from desktop height (up to 70cm).  The stronger, thicker rear cover, frame around the screen, sides and corners absorb the force of bumps and reduce damage when dropped.  When a student drops the device on a side or corner, the plastic bumper hits the ground first, protecting the screen. The rugged design helps to reduce out-of-classroom servicing downtime, replacement part costs and helps to extend the life of the device.

Spill Resistant – The water resistant keyboard channels liquids (up to 330ml) away from the electronics to prevent damage. Sealed touchpad protects electronics from moisture and spills.

Durable

The fanless design reduces noise and eliminates the need for bottom vents.  No vents helps to keep debris away from the electronics, helping to extend the life of the device. CTL® Education Chromebook has reinforcement around ports and hinges adds durability that stands up to student wear and tear.  The ergonomic keyboard has anti-peel keys that resist removal by students.  The non-slip texture hides wear and scratches and helps the student to better grip the device.

Designed for Education: Unique Features that Promote Learning

The rotatable camera supports scientific inquiry activities along with giving students flexibility in how they capture images and video. A student can rotate the camera away to record a science experiment or capture video of other students doing a skit or presenting a report. A student can rotate the camera up to closely examine a leaf.  The integrated microphone also rotates with the camera to better capture sound.  The optional snap-on magnification lens attaches to the rotatable camera to provide 30x magnification – enough to clearly see the color of a fruit fly’s eye enough or the crystal structure on raw sugar.

The retractable handle makes the device easy to carry and less likely to be dropped. A student can also “hook” the device onto their cubby or locker. The anti-glare screen produces less reflection under florescent lights and near classroom windows, reducing student eyestrain.

Fast, Smooth Performance

The CTL® Education Chromebook delivers fast, smooth performance – which means more time for teaching and learning. Students can load content-rich webpages quickly, watch videos with brilliant playback, run graphic-intensive scientific simulations, and multitask effortlessly.

All-Day Battery Life for All-Day Learning

With up to 9.5 hours of battery life, teachers and students can work where they need to without a power cord.

In addition to being an affordable device to purchase, The CTL® Education Chromebook offers a low TCO – can dramatically reduce deployment, management, security and maintenance costs.

Quick to deploy and easy to manage

The Google web-based management console, purchased separately, makes it easy for a school IT administrator to configure a fleet of Chromebooks. Nearly right out of the box, students and teachers can get up and running.  Using the console, IT can remotely manage devices, users, apps and policies across classrooms, a school, or a district.   This solution helps to eliminate time-intensive tasks like imaging, updating OS, installing patches and data recovery.  According to Google, because schools no longer need to purchase the same software licenses, servers, and security solutions, and maintenance plans, the total cost of owning a Chromebook can dramatically lower than the ownership of a traditional computer.

Easy to maintain and keep secure

With Google Drive, files are backed-up online, safely and securely, even if the device is lost or stolen.  Google Apps* are built-in and stay up to date automatically.  No need to install updates or patches. Chromebooks are designed from the ground up to defend against malware and viruses, helping to protect data, users, and networks. Security and software updates install automatically, so students and teachers don’t waste valuable learning time. Multiple login capability gives students their own personalized apps, settings, and bookmarks when they log-in so a Chromebook can be shared without fear of unauthorized data access or altered settings.

Now Available!

The CTL® Education Chromebook is now available from CTL® with an MSRP of $279.  The CTL® Education Chromebook will be available for purchase on http://ctl.net/ctl-education-chromebook and 2gopc.com. To learn more about the CTL® Education Chromebook or other CTL® products, contact CTL® at 1-800-642-3087.

Introducing the New CTL® 2go® PC NL5 2-in-1 for Medical Professionals

Stephanie Shea

Marketing Manager at CTL
Stephanie Shea holds a BA in Journalism from the University of Georgia and has almost 20 years of writing experience ranging from newspaper reporting to PR, blogging, website copy, product descriptions, social media and advertising. When she’s not at CTL, Stephanie can be found playing the tenor sax, practicing astrology or hitting the running trails in Forest Park.

The CTL 2go PC NL5 2-in-1Doctors, nurses and EMS crews will love CTL®’s newest 2go® PC device. This month, we’ve rolled out the CTL® 2go® PC NL5 2-in-1, a ruggedized tablet with detachable keyboard (sold separately). In the fast-paced medical field, an ultra-mobile, reliable and sturdy device is a must have. The NL5 is a great solution to streamline computing tasks and communications on the go. With a water-resistant keyboard, screen and touch pad, the NL5 is easy to disinfect, making it well suited for medical environments.

What’s new in this latest 2go® PC tablet? For one, you can detach the tablet from the keyboard with the push of a button, where the previous models (NL3 and NL4) were attached to a keyboard. This allows the NL5 to be the lightest and thinnest 2go tablet yet. We’ve also added the Bay Trail 2.0 GHz quad core processor to give medical professionals more computing power and battery life (up to 10 hours when docked to the keyboard).

Another big difference is that there is a more powerful webcam in front – 1.26MP – and, a 5MP webcam has been added to the back. With “virtual house calls” becoming more common (http://bigstory.ap.org/article/doctor-will-see-you-now-webcam-smartphone), the improved camera feature is a benefit for many doctors. Also, the stylus bay is integrated into the device, for greater ease of use.

There were some great features in the NL4 that remain the same in the NL5 2-in-1. For instance, you’ll still get the 1366 x 768 HD screen resolution with 5-point capacitive touch. Take notes efficiently and then use the built-in handwriting recognition software to save hours in typing time. Medical professionals can also be assured that the NL5 is every bit as rugged as its predecessor. It’s built to withstand a drop of up to 70cm, has reinforced corners and an easy-to hold surface. The optional keyboard/docking station has a built in handle. A built-in accelerometer can sense when the unit is dropped and will shut down the hard drive to prevent damage.

Here’s list of other features and specs:

  • 2GB RAM
  • WiFi a/b/g/n + Bluetooth Combo Card
  • Windows 8.1 Ready (SST or Professional, 32-bit)
  • Microsoft Office 2013 Professional (32/64-bit) can be added
  • One year parts and labor warranty included (upgradeable to three years, with next business day onsite option)
  • Inputs include one USB 3.0 port, Micro SD slot, Audio Mic combo jack and Micro-HDMI

If your medical practice or EMS service is ready to upgrade to the latest in mobile technology, call your sales rep today to get a great deal on the new NL5. Or, give us a call at 1-800-642-3087.
